Two people suffered life-threatening injuries in a serious collision on the M25 near Godstone on Saturday (September 28).

A blue Jeep Cherokee travelling on the anti-clockwise carriageway of the motorway crossed the central reservation and struck a number of vehicles travelling in the opposite direction just before 10.30am.

An air ambulance and emergency services attended the scene and the driver of the Jeep, a man in his 40s, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to St George’s Hospital, in Tooting.

A passenger also suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Kings College Hospital, in London. A third injured man was taken to East Surrey Hospital, in Redhill.

The motorway was closed at junctions 7 and 8, for the M23 and Reigate, and three lanes have now been re-opened. Surrey Police warned motorists to expect delays and to seek alternative routes if possible.

Officers have appealed for any witnesses to call 101 quoting reference P13295716.
