Footage has emerged of alleged fly-tipping at a Surrey nature reserve.

The video shows mounds of waste at Tice’s Meadow, between Farnham and Aldershot.

The nature reserve in Badshot Lea has been occupied by travellers since last Wednesday (November 8). An eviction notice, to be enforced by Tuesday (November 14), has been served.

Farnborough resident and former Army officer Richard Seargent, 51, shot the video.

“It’s one of several dumps of rubbish,” he said.

Mr Seargent said the police sent an officer out to the site but the dumping continued after the police left.

“The issue is that it’s private land,” he continued. “Police seem to use this as an excuse for inaction.

“This is clearly antisocial behaviour and should have been stopped. The police’s hands appear to be tied.”

Mark Elsoffer, secretary of Tice’s Meadow bird group, said:”They’ve carried on bringing more and more rubbish in, we are just waiting for the eviction notice now.

“There’s more piles on top of the existing piles, the local residents are up in arms.”

An eviction notice is due to be served on the encampment on Tuesday (November 14).

As it stands, site owner Hansons UK has said it will have to spend several thousand pounds clearing up the nature reserve.
