The Toast of Surrey Business Awards are back for a seventh consecutive year.

With the awards evening taking place on Thursday April 23 in Woking’s HG Wells centre, we are profiling all of those nominated this year.

Companies with a Turnover of up to £1 Million nominee: Creative Nature

A West Molesey business has gone from strength to strength since an enterprising couple took over the reins.

Superfood company Creative Nature has been shortlisted in the Companies with a Turnover up to £1 million category in this year’s Toast of Surrey Awards.

Matt Ford, 28, who runs the company with partner Julianne Ponan, 25, said they were overwhelmed to have been named as finalists.

“To get this far is amazing,” he said.

The company was founded in 2008, but it was not until 2012 that the pair bought into the company, taking it from £56,000 losses to £500,000 turnover in three years.

The pair saw the opportunity to get into the business when superfoods were not so well known.

Mr Ford said: “We saw the potential and we had to step back the products they had. They were selling things like Buddha statues.

“We saw the superfoods side and decided to hone in on that and start working on new products. At that time there wasn’t a bar on the market that had superfood in. After a year stabilising we formulated our superfood snack bars.”

He said they are the only company in the UK to win two gold stars in the Great Taste Awards 2014 for their cold pressed snack bars.

“It took us a while to get to this point, the first year we took it out of losses it stayed like it,” he said.

“The second year we turned a profit.

“Last year in 2014 we doubled turnover.”
