Two extra floors could provide almost 300 more car parking spaces in Victoria Way Car Park in Woking.

Woking Borough Council has submitted plans for the expansion which include images of how the car park would be covered in cladding to radically change its appearance from the roadside.

The copper coloured cladding ‘fins’ will “soften the existing dominant horizontality of the existing concrete panels”, according to planning documents.

The changes would increase the number of spaces from 918 to 1,206, with additional disability parking.

The plans would mean the destruction of the ground floor toilets, which would be replaced with hard standing for 36 bicycle parking spaces.

A new lift and staircase would take people to the extra floors of the car park, which was first built in 1975.

A planning application was submitted on Thursday (August 2) and the determination deadline is Thursday November 1.
