As the deadline for primary school applications approaches, Surrey Live has provided a comprehensive guide to help make the difficult choice.

The Tuesday (January 15) deadline for final applications is now just days away, so you can use our detailed insight to find out all you need to know about the primary schools in your area.

The Real Schools Guide 2019, compiled by Reach PLC’s data unit, aims to give a far bigger picture than that of traditional league tables. It takes into account 44 different data points – including not just KS2 results, but factors like progress, pupil-teacher ratios and absence rates.

Parents can go online to browse the full data, compare different schools and find links to contact details and recent Ofsted reports.

As was the case last year, South Farnham School is the best state-funded school in Surrey, according to the guide.

The guide, now in its sixth year, has been praised by education experts alike. Dr Elain McCreery, head of primary initial teacher education at Manchester Metropolitan University, said the guide could help parents make decisions about where to apply for or be useful to those with children already at schools to get involved and support the school.

Copthorne Primary School in Bradford is the highest ranked in the country. South Farnham School, the county’s highest, is placed fifth nationally.

Highfield South Farnham School is placed second in Surrey and Manorfield Primary and Nursery School rounds off the top three.
