A road vehicle collided with a level crossing in Egham on Monday morning (April 16), causing train delays between Virgina Water and Staines .

Train services running through these stations had to run at a reduced speed.

Network Rail , which owns and maintains the railway infrastructure, said the disruption was expected until 10am and train services could be delayed by up to 15 minutes.

Reports on social media suggested that a car had drove into the barriers as the train was passing through and that the train driver had to get out to remove debris.

Bus services were also diverted due to the ongoing incident at Pooley Green and diverted to access Egham town centre.

White Bus Services said on social media: “Our drivers are doing their utmost to keep to time in difficult circumstances.”
