Fly-tippers have dumped a huge pile of rubbish in a lay-by at an area popular with dog walkers in Weybridge .

The rubbish pile was found dumped on Desborough Island near the Hersham Football Club ground in Walton Lane on Saturday morning (April 14) by a dog walker.

The fly-tip has a number of easily distinguishable items in it, such as bike tyres, garden fencing, a door, plastic tarpaulins and palm trees.

There are even children’s toys in the pile, including what appears to be a pink rocking horse and the framing for a pink playhouse.

Surrey County Council is responsible for waste disposal, but borough and district councils are lumbered with the task of chasing up fly-tips.

Surrey councils in Surrey spent more than £618,000 in 2016/17 alone dealing with the problem.

Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Surrey Wildlife Trust has spent more than £50,000 dealing with fly-tippers in the past year.
