O2 customers left without 4G as the network goes down across the UK

O2 has been hit by a nation wide techincal glitch that has left customers unable to use 4G.

The issues mean that customers “might experience problems making calls, using the internet or sending and receiving emails.”

In Guildford, O2 are currently investigating reports that a phone mast in the area isn’t working.

They are advising customers who are experiencing problems to “try switching off your device and then switching it back on again.”

A statement on the mobile provider’s website regarding the glitch said that engineers are investigating issues related to data.

It said: “Our technical teams are investigating reports of issues when using data. Voice calls are working OK. Our technical teams are investigating.

“We apologise for any inconvenience.”

The network issues are understood to have started at around 5.30am this morning (December 6).

According the the Manchester Evening News , outages have been reported across the UK, including London Manchester and Southampton.

Hundreds of customers have vented their frustration at not being able to access the internet on their phones.

Mark Francis tweeted: “There is no O2 network at all it seems, which basically means the world’s about to end right? Although must say it is strangely liberating at the moment.”

Sacha Boljevic wrote: “No O2 3G/4G network for me this morning. It may as well always be down in Manchester CC – 4G constantly congested and unusable for years now – would leave if it was easier to ditch the contract.”

Emily-Kate Brewer posted: “After having several masts down in my area for weeks and not being able to make or receive calls. I’ve now woken this morning to no data. My partner is now having to navigate his own way round London with no sat nav. Really not good enough!!!”
