A new doctors’ surgery is set to be built in Chiddingfold, after the former surgery was destroyed by a fire.

Chiddingfold Surgery in Ridgley Road was gutted on January 7, 2019.

Plans have now been submitted to Waverley Borough Council (WBC) for a complete rebuild.

The surgery relocated to Cedar Ward at Milford Hospital on January 31, and an operational service has been available at Dunsfold Branch Surgery and Milford Crossroads Surgery for Chiddingfold patients.

According to the WBC planning documents: “The planning application submitted is for a full reinstatement on a complete like-for-like basis to enable early reinstatement of the facilities for the local community.

“The number of consulting, treatment rooms and employees will not change from the pre-loss state.

“The parking provisions and number of parking spaces will remain unchanged.”

Dr Claire Willett, who has been a GP at the surgery for 23 years, said she hopes to be back on site at Christmas.

She said: “The new surgery will be an exact rebuild with some minor internal modifications.

“We aim for the surgery to be rebuilt and to be back on site at Christmas.

“We would like to thank the patients for their patience and support and also the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) for helping us get up and running at Milford Hospital.”
