Lone shop worker repeatedly stabbed by hooded man in ‘vicious’ attack

Shocking CCTV footage shows a lone shop worker being repeatedly stabbed by a hooded man during a terrifying attack.

Two males entered an off-licence in High Street, Whitton and demanded that the victim, a man in his 40s, “open the till.”

One of the hooded men then stabbed the man multiple times while the other ripped the turban from his head.

Police have released the footage in a bid to identify the two men and labelled the crime, “a vicious attack”.

Metropolitan Police Officers and the London Ambulance Service were called to the Twickenham store at around 10pm on Saturday, December 23 last year.

There, they found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds having fought of his attackers. He was taken to a west London hospital and has since been discharged to recover from his injuries at home.

The victim was working alone in the store when the attack took place and was behind the counter when the two disguised men entered.

One suspect walked straight behind the counter and shouted “open the till” before repeatedly stabbing the man while the other watched from behind the counter. Both suspects ran off in the direction of Percy Road without stealing anything.

Suspect 1 is described as a black male, about 5ft 11ins, wearing a dark hooded coat, jeans, black trainers and blue and grey gloves.

Suspect 2 is described as a white male, about 5ft 11ins, wearing a dark blue all-weather jacket, a grey tracksuit, black trainers and orange gloves.

Detective Constable Mike Deans, the investigating officer from Kingston and Richmond CID, said: “This was a vicious attack on a man who was simply just doing his job at his place of work, a place where he should feel safe. The attack has understandably left the victim extremely distressed.

“It is through pure luck that the victim did not receive more serious injuries.

“I would appeal to anyone who recognises the two men in the CCTV to contact police as a matter of urgency so we can bring those responsible for this heinous crime to justice.”
