A JustGiving page set up to raise money for the family of a mother-of-four who was stabbed to death in Ewell has raised more than £42,000 in two days.

Aliny Mendes, 39, died at the roadside at around 3pm on Friday (February 8) after police responded to reports a woman had been stabbed at the junction of Sparrow Farm Road and London Road.

On Saturday, (February 9), her family paid tribute, describing her as having a “wonderful heart” and being “loved by everyone”.

The same day a JustGiving page was set up with the goal of raising £20,000 for her four children and family.

This was later revised to £40,000, and as of Monday morning (February 11) more than £42,000 has been raised.

Vanessa Ferro, who who set up the crowd funding page, says the money is being raised to “repatriate Aliny’s body to her family in Brazil” and to pay for a lawyer to try and keep the children together.

The page says: “Her friends, church community, colleagues and her family in Brazil and other parts of the world are in total shock at the loss of this wonderful person.

“Please can you find it in your hearts to support this very worthy cause and help these poor children who will now grow up without parents, and furthermore to lay Aliny to rest in her home country of Brazil.”

Ricardo Godinho, 41, from Epsom has been charged with murder following the incident and will appear at Staines Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning
