A Cranleigh outlet has been the subject of a smash-and-grab raid by “audacious” thieves, for the second time in four months.

More than 80 items of clothing, including a large quantity of fur, were taken during a raid at Soho Furriers at Smithbrook Kilns, in Horsham Road.

The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday April 4, sometime between 12.09am and 12.24am, when thieves smashed their way through a door at the back of the premises.

Last December 100 other items were stolen in a similar raid
.

During this month’s incident, coats, jackets, gilets and hats – which were all made with fur – were grabbed from a store room.

The haul included two unique items – a black mink coat with silver fox arms and a vintage brown mink coat with suede inserts.

A silver saloon car was seen entering the shopping area and the stolen goods were loaded into the vehicle, which left the site at around 12.20am.

Detective Constable Barry Collyer said: “This was an audacious burglary in which distinctive items were stripped from the shop and I am appealing for anyone who saw the getaway car in the vicinity, or any suspicious individual or behaviour, to contact Surrey Police.

“Similarly, I need anyone who sees or is offered these items for sale in unusual circumstances to let me know.

“Surrey Police will not tolerate such brazen offending and will do everything possible to bring such offenders to justice.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Surrey Police on 101 quoting 45140026124. Alternatively the independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
