The festive season will officially begin in Walton this weekend as the town’s annual Festival of Light returns on Saturday (November 25).

The all-day event will include activities such as children’s rides and street performers before the lantern parade and Christmas lights switch on later in the evening.

Santa’s giving grotto will also return this year, which gives visitors the opportunity to donate gifts to the elderly.

The festival is organised by the Walton-on-Thames Trading Alliance (WotTA) and attracts more than 2,000 people each year.

In preparation for the event, pupils at Three Rivers Academy have been busy building Santa’s sleigh for the occasion.

The idea to build a sleigh was inspired by the number of requests for “selfies with Santa” at the end of the 2016 event.

Walton High Street and The Heart plaza will be hosting activities from 9.30am until 7.30pm on the day.
