Emergency landing at Farnborough Airport after cockpit fills with smoke

An aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Farnborough Airport after its cockpit filled with smoke.

Two people were on board the aircraft as it made an emergency landing at 8.08am on Wednesday morning (April 11).

Fortunately, neither of the people on board required medical treatment so ambulance crews and firefighters stood down.

Fire crews from Rushmoor fire station sent three pumps to the incident and took to Twitter to spread the word while warning road users of standing water and heavy traffic.

South East Coast Ambulance Service crews also attended the incident.

Further details of the incident such as aircraft make, model and the cause of the smoke have not currently been released.

A spokesman for the South East Coast Ambulance Service said: “At 8.05am we were advised of an emergency landing for an aircraft at Farnborough Airport with two on board with smoke filling the cockpit.

“We were stood down as advised because no patients were requiring treatment.”

A spokesman for TAG Farnborough Airport said: “An aircraft was met by emergency services on landing this morning. The aircraft landed safely at 8.08 a.m.”

A spokesman for Rushmoor fire station said: “We sent three pumps out to the airport but didn’t get involved, we left shortly after the incident.”
