Armed police respond after reports of weapons used in Ash ‘violent disorder’

Four people have been arrested after armed police responded to reports of weapons being used in a “violent disorder” in Ash.

According to Guildford police marked and unmarked police responded to the incident, which took place in Winchester Road at around 1pm on Wednesday (January 9)

According to a police statement on social media “a number of persons” who were thought to have been involved were arrested and an investigation was launched.

In the statement police reassured the public that they were aware of the incident and that the investigation and safeguarding of the community was being done by the “appropriate officers”.

On Thursday (January 10) police confirmed that four people, including a 42-year-old woman, a 45-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, all from Guildford, and a 51-year-old woman from Ash were arrested and remain in custody on suspicion of causing violent disorder.

A Surrey Police spokesman said officers responded to reports of violent disorder in the road shortly before 1pm and four people were arrested.

“Due to a report that weapons had been seen armed police attended,” they said. “Four people were arrested on suspicion of causing violent disorder. They remain in police custody at this time.”
