A3 Guildford northbound crash: ‘Minor injuries’ only after man taken to hospital following early morning pile-up which caused 10-mile queues and 90-minute delays

A man has been taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle collision on the A3 past Guildford on Tuesday morning (November 14).

Drivers faced tailbacks of around seven miles on the northbound carriageway after the collision, said to have happened at around 6.50am.

Surrey Police confirmed the crash involved “a number of vehicles”, including a white Mitsubishi Canter lorry, a white Vauxhall Insignia and a black Citroen Dispatch panel van.

The crash happened at the cathedral turn, between the A31 Hog’s Back junction and the A322 at Worplesdon Road.

Police said the man was taken to hospital with “minor injuries”.

Motorists were warned to avoid the area due to delays of more than 90 minutes.

And even when the road was reopened at around 7.40am, long delays remained in the area, with queues back around 10 miles past Milford on the A3.

On the A31 meanwhile, there were delays eastbound back to Tongham and stop start traffic all the way to the A331 Blackwater Valley Route junction.
