A281 Horsham Road crash: One car left ‘in woods’ following accident

One vehicle was left stranded in the woods after a serious collision on a busy main road on Tuesday.

The A281 Horsham Road, near Elmbridge Road at Cranleigh, was partially blocked in both directions following the accident at around 12.30pm.

Long queues developed on the busy stretch of road, leading back to Alfold.

Two cars were involved in the crash and one was left with severe damage to one of its back wheels.

Eyewitness Paul Burgman tweeted: “Avoid the A281 between Cranleigh and Alfold, two cars involved, one in the woods, will need recovering.”

Emergency services also attended the scene of the accident.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “I can confirm one ambulance crew has attended the scene.

“However, no-one required hospital treatment.”

Surrey Police said: “The accident occurred at 12.25pm on the A281 at the junction with the B2130 in Cranleigh.

“We received reports of a head-on collision between what appeared to be a green Mini and a blue Volvo estate.”
