13 Wimbledon-themed afternoon teas and pop-ups to celebrate men’s and women’s finals

Inspired by the iconic British sporting event, restaurants, hotels and bars across the area have adapted their menus to celebrate Wimbledon 2018.

From complimentary strawberries to Instagram-approved floral installations, venues are incorporating all aspects of British summertime, offering guests perfect settings in which to enjoy everything Wimbledon has to offer.

Saturday July 14 – Women’s singles final (starting on Centre Court at 2pm)

Sunday July 15 – Men’s singles final (starting at Centre Court at 2pm)

1. Jumeirah Carlton Tower

The five-star hotel is serving a Summer Season Afternoon Tea in its Chinoiserie restaurant. The tea is based on the best of British summer and features themes of Wimbledon, Royal Ascot and The Proms.

2. The Coral Garden

Guests will be able to watch all the action live on a big screen while enjoying a special offering of traditional strawberries and cream. This will be available throughout the duration of the tournament for £7, or complimentary with any bottle of sparkling wine. The Coral Garden is accessed via a hidden lift in The Coral Room.

3. 108 Brasserie

The doors of 108 Brasserie are adorned with a lavish floral installation by FlowerBx and the restaurant will be serving a Pimm’s Jelly (£3) and a Special Wimbledon Cocktail (£12).

3. El Pirata

To celebrate and support Spain’s world number one Rafa Nadal, Spanish tapas restaurant El Pirata has created a bespoke Strawberry Mojito, priced at £7.50 and available throughout July.

4. The Arch London

The boutique Marylebone hotel is offering an exclusive Wimbledon afternoon tea, including gingerbread tennis rackets, a centre court almond financier cake and an orange and lemon tennis ball mousse. It costs £29.95 per person or £39.95 with a glass of Taittinger Brut Reserve or a Pimm’s cocktail.

5. Eccleston Yards

Eccleston Place, the first permanent venture by catering duo Tart London, will open for an exclusive Wimbledon pop-up in the newly developed Eccleston Yards, ahead of the official opening in late summer 2018. The pop-up will serve fresh smoothies, seasonally topped bruschetta and refreshing gazpachos, as well as British favourite strawberries and cream. Open 12pm-9pm until July 15.

6. Friarwood

Boutique fine wine shop Friarwood will be offering a complimentary wine pairing service. Nip into either Wimbledon or Parsons Green stores and the experts will tailor the perfect bottle of wine to match your picnic.

7. The Petersham

The fine-dining hotel restaurant in Richmond is serving a Wimbledon afternoon tea featuring Pimm’s jelly and cucumber foam and mini mango tennis ball cheesecake. The themed tea costs from £27.50 per person.

8. Sopwell House

The St Albans hotel is serving up a Wimbledon afternoon tea featuring an array of tennis-themed treats including a Pimm’s and cucumber jelly and a fresh strawberry tart served alongside freshly baked scones and mini sandwiches. It costs £44.95 per person.

9. The Varsity Hotel and Spa

Six Brasserie located inside The Varsity Hotel and Spa in Cambridge is serving a limited edition, Wimbledon-inspired afternoon tea with a white chocolate cream and strawberry parfait topped with fresh strawberries and a milk chocolate Union Jack.

10. The Tower Hotel

11. Squire’s Garden Centres

12. The Refinery Bankside

A Pimm’s screening garden at The Refinery Bankside in London features a large screen to enjoy the tennis, red and white striped deckchairs, a Pimm’s pop-up bar and a photo-ready flower wall for the duration of The Championships.

A limited-edition afternoon tea with a Pimm’s twist will be also be served, including scones paired with Pimm’s-infused jam and clotted cream, waffles with strawberries soaked in Pimm’s and a Pimm’s Eton Mess.

13. Jubilee Square, Woking

Woking Shopping will be screening every tennis match live on the big screen right through to the final game in Jubilee Square.

There is a Summer Relaxation Zone where visitors can lie back in colourful deckchairs or curl up in giant beanbags, with a great view of the tennis.
